Shareholder Survey Summary
Dear Members,
Over the past several weeks, we’ve been engaging with Members to listen, reflect, and look forward together. As part of this process, we launched a Shareholder Survey to ask an important question: how do we tell the Calgary Winter Club’s story as we move into the next chapter?
First, thank you. The survey received 1,564 responses, reflecting strong engagement from our Members.
When we introduced the survey in February, our goal was simple: to ask the hard questions rather than making assumptions. The Calgary Winter Club has been shaped by its Members for nearly 70 years, and any conversation about how we represent the Club must begin by listening.
What We Heard From Members
Your responses reinforced several clear themes. Primarily, that the Club plays an active role in Members’ lives, with many visiting multiple times each week.
Members also spoke clearly about what the Club represents. Words like family, community, fitness, fun, health, and friends came up repeatedly, reflecting the welcoming atmosphere that has defined the Club for generations.
There is also a strong sense of pride in belonging here. More than 80% of respondents reported high or very high pride in being a Member, and many emphasized how important the Club’s history and legacy are to their connection here.
And importantly, when we asked about long-standing elements of the Club’s identity, including the name, the message was clear: The Calgary Winter Club’s name is an integral part of the Club’s historical identity, has a significant amount of brand equity, and resonates strongly with many of our Members.
Looking Ahead
This work is not about change for its own sake. Rather, it is about ensuring that as we continue investing in the Club, decisions are guided by what Members value most.
What we heard consistently is that Members want the Club’s future to reflect the qualities that already define it: a strong sense of community, a welcoming culture, a place for families, and pride in the Club’s legacy.
During construction, we will be creating new opportunities within the Club to share and celebrate our legacy by highlighting the stories, people, and moments that have shaped the Calgary Winter Club over the past 70 years. We look forward to bringing these spaces and stories to life and can't wait to share them with you.
A summary of the survey results is attached for those who would like to explore the findings in more detail.
