Programming & Member Experience

Dear Members,

As part of our ongoing Frame the Future updates, we are sharing how programming and the overall Club experience will be managed during construction.

The Calgary Winter Club offers one of the most comprehensive programming offerings among private clubs in North America, and participation in programming remains a core part of the Member experience. Maintaining this strength, while managing activity levels across the Club during construction, has been a key focus of our planning.

To support this, the Club conducted a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of programming participation, peak usage patterns, and overall facility flow across the day and week. These insights have informed a series of targeted adjustments designed to maintain access, better balance activity levels, and minimize congestion during construction.

Programming & Club Experience

Members can expect a full range of programming to continue throughout construction, with adjustments designed to support both construction requirements and overall experience.

Rather than broadly reducing programming, schedules have been carefully reviewed and redistributed across the day and across the week. This approach helps alleviate peak-time pressure while maintaining, and in some cases enhancing, overall access to programs.

Program sizes have been adjusted to improve overall experience, with additional offerings introduced at different times to maintain participation opportunities.

This approach allows the Club to continue delivering a broad range of programs while taking proactive steps to manage activity levels, recognizing that there may still be periods of higher activity.

Fall 2026 Registration

Save the Date: Fall 2026 program registration will open for Active Members on Sunday, June 7 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

We recognize that the adjustments outlined above may raise questions about individual programs and schedules. On Thursday, May 14, the Club will share a detailed follow-up communication outlining specific program changes, along with the release of the Fall Registration Guide. This guide will include a full list of available programs and additional details to support your planning.

Non-Member Sporting Events

The Club has made the tough decision to stop hosting large-scale external events during construction, including tournaments, bonspiels, swim meets, and external bookings.

This approach prioritizes Member access and helps reduce overall traffic and demand on amenities. Event activity will continue to be reviewed as construction progresses.

Parking

Once construction begins, the Club recognizes the importance of parking for Members and will be actively managing and maximizing parking availability throughout the construction period. While some reduction in parking is expected due to required laydown areas and on-site work, steps are being taken to minimize the overall impact wherever possible.

While the Club cannot guarantee that parking will not reach capacity at certain peak times, a number of measures are being implemented to help reduce this likelihood and support overall access.

The Club is working closely with Buttcon West Ltd. to ensure that only the required number of parking stalls are impacted and to limit construction and work vehicles within the main parking areas wherever possible.

In addition, our CWC staff will park off-site for the duration of construction through an agreement with the North Haven Community Association. This helps prioritize available parking for Members, particularly during higher-demand periods.
