Childminding and Youth Spaces
Dear Members,
As we prepare to begin Frame the Future, much of the focus has naturally been on what we're building. Equally important, however, is how we continue to deliver the Club experience our Members value while construction is underway.
During our initial Member Engagement Sessions at the beginning of the Frame the Future planning process, we asked Members what mattered most throughout the journey ahead. One message came through consistently. While Members were excited about the future of the Club, it was equally important that the Club remain active, welcoming and enjoyable throughout construction. We recognize that some aspects of your day-to-day experience will look different over the coming months, but that feedback has shaped months of planning.
Behind the scenes, teams from across the Club have spent months exploring how we can adapt our spaces and operations to support construction while maintaining access to the programs, services and amenities Members value most. In many cases, that has meant finding creative ways to repurpose existing spaces so many amenities, programs and services can continue throughout the project.
While construction is expected to begin in mid-August, Members will notice a few initial changes as the Club begins implementing a staged approach to support the project. September 1 will mark the introduction of additional operational changes throughout the Club.
Temporary Entrances & Access
As shared in our previous Frame the Future update, Member access will transition to a new entrance configuration beginning September 1.
The Upper North Entrance (the upper pool viewing hallway) will remain one of the Club's primary Member entrance throughout construction. On September 1, the Temporary Tennis Entrance and Temporary South Entrance, located near the Badminton Courts, will also open, providing Members with multiple access points.
Member Services will operate from temporary service locations at both the Upper North Entrance and Temporary Tennis Entrance, ensuring support remains readily available whether you are checking in for your court, looking for equipment rentals or have any questions.
Clear signage will be installed throughout the Club and updated as each phase of construction progresses to help Members navigate with confidence. Accessible routes, including ramps and elevators, will remain available, and any adjustments will be communicated in advance.
Locker Rentals
As construction begins on the new Universal Locker Room in Phase 1A, Members will continue to use the existing Men's, Women's, Family Locker Room as well as sports lockers, as they do today.
Once the Universal Locker Room is complete at the end of Phase 1A, the Club will transition to day-use lockers only while the new Men's and Women's Locker Rooms are constructed. During this period, Members will have access to day-use lockers within the Universal Locker Room, sports-specific locker areas and additional day lockers located throughout the Club.
We recognize that lockers are an important part of many Members' routines and will communicate the transition process well in advance. Current locker renters will receive detailed information before any changes take effect.
Relocation of Child & Youth Spaces
Within Phase 1A, to build the Club's new Childminding, Preschool and Universal Locker Room facilities, several existing spaces will be repurposed to make way for these exciting additions.
The current Childminding space will become the future Universal Locker Rooms, while the current Youth & Teen Room and Music & Tutoring spaces will be transformed into the Club's new Childminding and Preschool area. Looking ahead, Music & Tutoring will move into a new permanent home within the current Boardroom and Food & Beverage office area.
To keep these programs operating throughout construction, several services will temporarily relocate within the Club.
Childminding Centre
Beginning in mid-August, Childminding will relocate to the Upper Classroom overlooking the Aquatic Centre.
Childminding will continue to operate under its regular Summer and Fall/Winter/Spring schedules.
As we transition into the temporary space, capacity will be more limited than in our current Childminding area. To help families plan ahead and ensure fair access, Members will be able to reserve a Childminding space through the Club's website or app, similar to booking an activity or program.
Currently, advance reservations are required only for Infants (6 weeks to 18 months). Starting mid-August, this requirement will expand to include both Infants (6 weeks to 18 months) and Children (19 months to 6 years).
Members who wish to guarantee a Childminding space will be required to make an advance reservation. Drop-ins will continue to be welcomed and accommodated whenever space is available.
As part of these temporary changes, the Away & Play program will be paused for Phase 1A. This allows Childminding resources to remain focused on supporting Members while they are enjoying the Club and helps ensure available spaces are used as efficiently as possible.
In the coming weeks, Members with children under the age of 6 will receive a detailed overview of the new booking process, reservation guidelines and timelines.
Youth Room & Teen Lounge
In early September, the current Youth Room & Teen Lounge spaces will be repurposed as construction begins on the Club's future Childminding and Preschool areas. The exact transition date will be communicated once confirmed.
The Youth Room will relocate to the McCallum Room, where it will continue to operate under its regular hours and offer many of the games, activities and amenities Members have come to expect.
A temporary Teen Lounge area will be available in the Upper Badminton Viewing area, providing a casual space for older youth during construction. Members 12 years of age and older are also welcome to use the seating and social spaces located throughout the Club.
Music & Tutoring
Music lessons will temporarily relocate to spaces adjacent to the Bowling Centre, in the Lower Boardroom and Preschool Rooms, while tutoring sessions will continue in designated quiet areas throughout the Club and in the 55+ Room (in off-hours that won't impact regularly scheduled 55+ programs).
To provide additional flexibility during construction, we have also expanded our music and tutoring offerings to include online classes, which are clearly identified on the Club website and app.
Families enrolled in Music & Tutoring programs will receive detailed room locations and directions before classes begin in September.
Before We Begin...
While much of our recent communication has focused on how construction will affect day-to-day Club operations, we also recognize that this milestone deserves to be celebrated.
Before Frame the Future officially begins, we'll be inviting Members to join us for a special evening on Friday, August 14, 2026 as we come together to celebrate the memories, friendships and traditions that have shaped the Club over the years, while looking ahead to everything still to come.
